Enduro Race held at North Mountain in Darrington, Washington
Photos & Words By Heather Carter.
This recap comes better late than never, as the race happened nearly 3 weeks ago. It was the 4th round of Enduro races for the Race Cascadia 2022 Season. It's also my first Photoblog recapping a race that I shot, but I gotta start somewhere, right? Anyway, I would like to share some Photos and a few words to accompany them in this first (but not last) race recap from my POV.
Racers slowly trickled into the Staging Area at North Mountain the morning of July 30th, 2022.
Gearing up for what would become a hot, dusty day of Enduro Racing on some rowdy trails.
After notifying everyone that the start time was to be moved up an hour to 8am instead of 9am, we knew we were gearing up for a scorcher (by PNW standards)!
After following directions from the Course Manager, Ebikes were underway; followed by Pro/Expert, Sport, and then Enduro Lite onto the course.
Stage 1 (and 2!) was on Out of the Blue, a single black diamond, and the longest trail on the mountain at 4 miles long with nearly 3,000' of descent! Race Cascadia is the Real Deal of Enduro Racing for sure. Pro Racer in Photo: Myles Trainer.
Finding the right light pockets was crucial to getting good race photos here! Pro Racer: Marco Osboune
Stage 3 was on my personal favorite: Jackpot! It is a single black tech trail with lots of roots and fun the whole way down. It begins and ends on Skyline. Racer: Pro Racer: Eric Olsen
The light was getting harsh, so we were on the hunt for some shade and cool lighting effects with the dust! Expert Racer: Teresa Hughes repping the Donut Squad!
The After party & podiums were held at Rivertime Brewing in downtown Darrington.
I highly recommend this spot! You can't beat the Pizza & beer they serve, its delicious!
Thanks for stopping by!
